Hand Embroidered Bee Garter
I was thrilled when Mother of the Bride Lorna, messaged me and asked me to make a special garter for her daughter… Creating a special moment between the bride and someone she loves, with a special heirloom garter is something I really enjoy! A Mother of the Bride Gift for her Daughter…
Adding things that are unique and special to the bride, showing so much thought has gone into the gift.
Lorna told me Alex loved bees… she is a midwife and Lorna wanted to include a vintage sixpence as the ‘something old’ and an angel, in memory of her own mother. Lorna loved the lace of the butterfly kisses garter, a beautiful soft cotton Nottingham lace, in ivory. But was concerned all these might make the garter look too busy.
I think they all combined beautifully, making a unique garter with it’s own special story!
Lorna had the choice of a bee charm, embroidery or button and Lorna chose a hand embroidered bee…
I did intend taking photos as I was embroidering. But got carried away, enjoying the stitching so much, it was completed before I realised I had no photos!
Here it is, the lace strengthened with organza ribbon and stretched over embroidery film.
Inside The Garter
The organza ribbon has been cut away and the lace lined with pure silk, embroidered with the couples names and wedding date in gold.
A Sterling Silver Stork
A fine quality Sterling Silver stork, carrying a baby in a blanket, so sweet! To represent Alexs wonderful profession as a midwife, bringing new life into the world and helping mothers with their babies…
A silver sixpence and Angel
The other side of the garter, a tiny sixpence bag, containing a genuine silver sixpence, with bow and Swarovski pearl. Over that, an angel charm in Loving memory of Lornas mother.
A Scattering Of Crystals…
Dainty narrow lace… The gorgeous, soft cotton, Nottingham lace was scattered with tiny crystals.
The Bespoke Bee Garter completed and beautifully gift boxed
I loved this message and had to take a screenshot of Lornas reaction, when she slid the bow off the box and took a peek inside, before giving it to her daughter…
I hope you love my work! Would you like me to make a special garter for someone you love? Please message me on the contact form, phone or send me a text.
